How to Pay for A Divorce Attorney

The Maryland Divorce Crier writes a great post about how to pay for a divorce lawyer:

That’s a question I get a lot.  How do you hire a divorce attorney when you have no money?  Here are some answers:

  1. Second and third jobs
  2. Cash in all savings
  3. Borrow from pension
  4. Sell Assets
  5. Borrow from friends and family
  6. Credit cards
  7. Cut living expenses
  8. Line of credit
  9. Home equity loan
In California, cashing in savings, borrowing from a pension, selling assets, and getting a home equity line of credit may be an issue after the divorce is filed to the extent that such actions change, liquidate, or encumber assets that are community property or marital property.
