Developments in Same Sex Marriage

John Harding, a California certified family law specialist, writes here about why it's important as a family law attorney to pay attention to same sex marriage developments.  As John notes, same sex marriage is one of the most active areas in family law, and involves a variety of state and federal issues.  (By the way, John is also a faculty member at Solo Practice University, and teaches lawyers to be better lawyers).

James Gross over at the Maryland Divorce Legal Crier writes here that the DC council recognizes same sex marriages. DC currently has a domestic partnership law, and a bill proposing same sex marriage is expected soon.  It's ironic that DC is considering same sex marriage, as DC is a creation of the same U.S. Congress that passed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

In further developments, the New York Times notes here that same sex marriage is gaining momentum.
