Husband Convicted of Reckless Homicide in Slaying of Wife’s Lover

Fox News reported that a husband in Tennessee was convicted of reckless homicide in the slaying of his wife’s teenage lover.

Eric McLean was found guilty of reckless homicide rather than first-degree murder. McLean testified he only wanted to scare 18 year old Sean Powell away when he approached him with a high-powered rifle. He said the youth grabbed the barrel, and as McLean pulled back the gun went off.

As often happens in highly charged situations, McLean was likely under extreme emotional stress which impacted his ability to make rational decisions.  This often happens in divorce cases.   Fortunately for McLean, he can only face up to 4 years in prison, instead of life in prison.
