Social networking and divorce cases
Blake Boyd over at the Trial Technologist’s View writes here about using social media to gather evidence. While Blake writes about civil cases generally (and specifically about personal injury cases), his points have relevance to divorce cases as well.
I personally have worked on domestic violence cases where the alleged victim had posted incriminating information on her myspace page. Google, Zaba, and other search engines, along with numerous social network sites, make finding potentially incriminating evidence extremely easy.
Tip to the wise: If you don’t want anyone to find out about something: Don’t post it on the internet. Stated another way: If you have any incriminating information on the internet, assume that it will be found, used, and exploited by the other side in a family law case.
