Heather Mills glad to vent

Heather Mills McCartney said she is feeling better after she vented her feelings about her failed marriage to Sir Paul McCartney. Last week Ms. Mills railed against Sir Paul, claiming that he failed to protect her and their 3-year-old daughter. Ms. Mills also complained about the media, and announced a campaign to get European legislation to curb news media. She described her tirade as “unbelievably cathartic.”

Being able to express one’s feelings is often an important part of a divorce, and can help one or both sides have closure. Sometimes, however, it only causes more pain for the parties, and their children.  Mediation is often a better and safer environment to express one’s views. In mediation, both sides have the opportunity to discuss what is important to them. The mediator works as a neutral go between, and tries to move the parties towards resolution of their dispute. Mediation is a frequent tool in a divorce contact, regardless of whether the divorce is on the front page of the newspaper.
